What is Cork?In Portugal, vast forests of trees quietly grow the bark that we know as cork. Every nine years, the trees are stripped of their bark. They then begin to grow a new layer. In this way, cork has been a renewable resouce for hundreds of years.
Cork floor tiles are one example of how the bark of the cork oak lives on, still To make cork floor tiles, granules of cork are sorted then agglomerated together. The mixture and size of the granules determines the quality and the lifespan of the tile. Cork Concepts tiles are acknowledged as the best in the world, conforming to ISO 9000 standards. Cork's unique cellular structure gives its special softness and elasticity. With more than 15 million air-filled cells in every 25mm, it is all but impermable and will not rot. When compressed, it will return to 94% of its intital dimension within 24 hours.
